Make text come alive around your home by using a sticky note, index card, or extra piece of paper to label a truck.
Hang the label on an exterior door and discuss the letters and their meaning with your child. Labeling helps children learn that letters come together to make words and creates a print rich environment in your home.
Play a color spotting game before reading the book. Start by looking through the pages of the book and working with your child to point to anything red. Continue by pointing to anything orange, yellow, green, and blue. This activity helps children notice details about stories, building comprehension skills.
Using toy cars, toy trucks, or your own bodies, create a truck race! Pretend that you and your child are two monster trucks and race against each other (or use the toys to race). Try different movements to race: bunny hops, backwards walking, side steps, etc!
