The frog does not want to sit on a log. Doing his best to find an alternative place to sit the frog asks the cat a long list of questions. For every answer the cat has the frog has another question – until the frog finds out what dogs sit on!

Phonemic Awareness

When introducing the book, share the title and notice these phonemic elements:

The final sound in the words frog and log is Gg. This letter makes the sound /g/ like gopher, good, and gorilla. Let’s say that sound together: /g/, /g/, /g/. Point to the Gg in the title. Read the title together, emphasizing the sound /g/.

Read the following words to your child and ask your child if they end with the sound /g/ like frog and log: pond, dog, egg, snake, eyes, hug, pig.
