Family reading is one of the best ways to support your child's language development and academic success!
Stories in the Spotlight provides each family with a thematic reading list for children of all ages to read and enjoy before taking part in the Live Arts Event! The books are easily available at Kansas City Public Library branches. Then, each family that participates in the Family Activity will also get to select a book to take home and keep for follow up reading.

At "Totally Tots" your LIVE ARTS EVENT and your FAMILY ACTIVITY are combined in one to accomodate our littlest learners!!
Join the Kemper for a special Totally Tots featuring Stories in the Spotlight, where reading comes to life through the arts in KC!
Sing songs, read books, explore and make your own art with a Kemper Museum educator and Kansas City librarian. At this session, take a closer look at artwork in Andrea Carlson: Shimmer on Horizons, enjoy a tailored reading list provided by Turn the Page KC, and take home a free book and additional literacy activities!
Ideal for parents with children ages 3-5. This program is free to the public.
