Ten Tiny Babies
by Karen Katz
Vibrant colors and adorable illustrations of ten babies will enchant your little one! The babies play and become increasingly tired throughout the day. The babies run, spin, and tumble, eventually winding down until they are all asleep. It's a counting book that uses simple rhymes and repetitive phrases to engage young readers.
Ready, Set, Read!
Let your baby take the lead when you read. Your baby may only sit still for a page or two, turn pages too quickly, or only want to look at one picture and then be done. It is perfectly normal for baby to want to “taste” a book. Follow your baby’s lead to make reading time a positive experience. Make books a part of your daily routine and read before naptime and/or bedtime. Put a book in your diaper bag to read to baby while out and about. This will nurture their love of books and reading from the beginning.

Pre-Reading Building Block
Sing “Hush Little Baby” to your infant. This is a great nighttime song to improvise and make your own silly rhymes for your family to enjoy.
"Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
[Mama's/Papa's] gonna buy you a mockingbird.
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
[Mama's/Papa's] gonna buy you a diamond ring."
Let's Play
This activity will help your child make connections to the text, which helps children improve comprehension.
In the book small dots are drawn to depict movement on the page. Take baby’s finger and show them how to trace the dots on each page. As you read the story again, encourage them to trace the movement on each page. Finger-tracing different elements in books will aid baby’s motor skill development.
